Uxbridge Choral Society

About Us

Uxbridge Choral Society is a successful amateur choir of approximately 80 voices. Rehearsals take place at St Margaret's Church, Uxbridge. We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7.45 p.m. to 9.45 p.m.,with a break mid-session for refreshments, notices and socialising.

We give two principal concerts every year which generally take place at St Margaret's Church, Uxbridge (opposite the Tube Station). Occasionally we also hold a concert at the United Reformed Church, Ickenham. See the "Contact Us" tab for full addresses and maps. We also have a Carol Concert in December and a Summer Concert in July.

Come along and find out how much fun choral singing can be. We welcome experienced singers but we also seek to encourage singers who are out of practice or less experienced. Our aim is to improve the singing technique of all our members. It is a help if you can read music but we are equally happy if you can learn quickly "by ear". In accepting new members, our Choirmaster will take account of the need to balance voices. If you are thinking of joining the choir, there will be an open evening some time in the early autumn. If the prospect of joining a choir is a little daunting, perhaps because you have not sung recently and think you might not be up to scratch, this is a good time to start - you will be in the same boat as all the other choir members and you will see us all struggling together to master a new piece of music. We will be learning Handel's Acis and Galatea, which has not been performed by this Society since October 1975 (as well as some Christmas carols as the Carol Concerts draw near).
